Weathered locomotives and freight cars by Rob

Rob Arsenault is no stranger to the modeling world. His service, Weather My Trains, is known worldwide in delivering models that look like a prototype that has seen years of service. Rob has an eye in capturing these locomotives and rolling stock as they would appear in their natural habitat.

Above is the Athearn Genesis Canadian Pacific SD70ACU, unit number 7022. The now iconic nod to the armed forces Navy-inspired locomotive is relatively new, but it still has some road grime, fuel spillage, and exhaust soot to replicate the prototype.

From new to old, Athearn Genesis GMD GP38-2W has been weathered to reflect the look of a locomotive that has seen many years of active service in a harsh environment, complete with severely faded paint.

Rob also weathers freight cars as seen here with this Athearn Genesis Burlington Northern boxcar. The rust that has formed from years of rainwater collecting and running down the side is masterfully placed on this freight car and would convince anyone of the actual prototype. Rob has a service called Weather My Trains in which he custom weathers modelers' model trains.
